Women’s Faces Before, During, And After Orgasm Captured In A Photo Project

Topics of sexuality are a common taboo in many cultures, especially when it comes to the female side of the matter. To break this wall of secrecy and embarrassment Brazilian photographer Marcos Alberti came up with an idea that he called The O Project, in which he took pictures of 22 women before, during, and after orgasm.

The artist teamed up with Smile Makers, an adult toy company, to deliver the message that female pleasure is not something to blush about – it needs to be celebrated. “Our partnership with Marcos allowed us to create this series to upend that social stigma around female sexuality, and encourage the normalization of female pleasure,” stated Fan Yang, Global Brand Manager of Smile Makers.

They invited women of all different nationalities, including the more conservative countries like China and Singapore, in order to show that women should have control over their pleasure no matter their background. “That final shot, of a strong female grinning into the camera, is exactly what we want people to see. We hope that everyone viewing this project will feel more confident about their bodies and sexuality.”, Yang continued, “All it takes is one smile at a time.”

With this series, Alberti himself wants to encourage people to look at the matter a little differently and start talking about female orgasm more openly. “When you approach the taboo topic of sex through the lens of humor, people start to open up and share opinions more freely, which can lead to a monumental change in people’s mentality.”
