Some celebrities like Sharon Stone have testified that it is, managing to escape the claws of death, but still remembering everything that happened. Others haven't seen the light but still had a close call.
1. Leonardo DiCaprio
Leo will do anything for the sake of a movie, but surprisingly, most of these experiences weren't from filming.
He almost got attacked by a shark while diving in South Africa, was on a plane that almost burst into flames, and almost plummeted to his death while skydiving.
On top of those, though, he did almost die for the sake of a movie, almost drowning for one, and getting hypothermia for another.

2. Ellen Page
Ellen Page brushed death while filming for a movie in Portugal. She said the following on the terrifying experience:
“I went for a walk in the morning with the director in this field, and then all of a sudden there were just bulls everywhere — and the bulls started coming at us...and I really, truly thought like this is it; this is how I’m going to die.” So glad she is okay!

3. Sharon Stone
In 2001, Sharon had a brain hemorrhage in which she claimed to have a, "white light experience." After spending a week in the hospital, she got to go home, safe and sound — thank goodness.

4. Tracy Morgan
One of the most famous near-death experiences of our time, Tracy Morgan was in a car crash and suffered traumatic brain damage.
Tracy has said that he crossed over to the other side, and then came back, sharing the following:
"Something's different, the way I am with people, something's just different. I find myself saying 'I love you' 200 times a day to strangers. I don't care – I don't gotta know you to love you, I love you!"

5. Gerard Butler
During the filming for Chasing Mavericks, Gerard Butler was surfing when he was pulled into a current and dragged along a reef with sharp rocks. He was rescued and taken to a hospital, saying the following on the scary situation:
"This was maybe one of the few times that the reports were not exaggerated. It was a pretty close call. ... [The waves] just took me and I couldn't get up. It was pretty hairy."

6. 50 Cent
Amazingly, 50 Cent survived after someone shot him nine times, point-blank. He was shot in the hand, arm, hips, leg, chest, and face, spending a little over three months in the hospital.
Later on, the rapper took that experience and channeled it towards a good thing: his album Get Rich Or Die Tryin'.

7. Amy Schumer
During high school, Amy Schumer tried surfing and ended up in a nasty accident. Because it was winter, there was only one man on the beach to help her.
"I have a pretty bad scar on my leg from surfing. Forty-one stitches, three layers. I skegged myself. My whole fin went into my leg, and I had to yank it out. I was by myself," she said.

8. Lamar Odom
Odom experienced a near-death overdose in the public eye, after a fresh split with his now-ex-wife Khloé Kardashian. He was in a coma for several days but made a miraculous recovery.

9. Harrison Ford
Besides acting, Harrison Ford was an avid aviation fanatic. In 2015, he was sent to the hospital after his vintage plane plummeted into a golf course in Los Angeles.
Years before that in 1999, he was piloting a helicopter when it hit the ground, flipping over onto its side — but somehow, Ford survived both of those experiences.

10. Rachel Bilson
During her teenage years, Rachel Bilson had fallen into the wrong crowd, and all of them ended up in a car crash that could have killed them.
She was in a coma for several days but regained her health — for the most part. To this day, she still has migraines and memory loss from the crash.

11. George Clooney
On the set of his movie Syriana, George Clooney cracked his head open in the middle of a scene. He considered taking his own life because the pain was so intense.
"I was lying in a hospital bed with an IV in my arm, unable to move, having these headaches where it feels like you're having a stroke, and for a short three-week period, I started to think, 'I may have to do something drastic about this'... but I never thought I'd get there," he said.

12. Martin Lawrence
Determined to lose weight for a movie role, Martin Lawrence went for a run in 100-degree weather wearing layers upon layers of clothing.
His girlfriend found him on the front steps of their home, and he ended up in a coma for three days.

13. Liam Hemsworth
Long before his fame, Liam Hemsworth almost died as a child in Australia. He was caught in a rope underwater and almost drowned, saying the following about it now:
"When I was a kid, one time I got my leg rope wrapped around my whole body like a ball, under water. Couldn't get up. I was in waist-deep water, but I almost drowned."

14. Kanye West
Back in 2002, Kanye West was in a bad car accident that wired his jaw shut, breaking it in three places.
Those ailments permanently altered the rapper's face, which is something he is self-conscious about. Yeezus, self-conscious? I can't believe it either!

15. Eminem
Open about his battle with addiction, Eminem had a near-fatal overdose on prescription pills in 2007.
He went home and relapsed within one month's time, which made him wake up and realize he had a problem and needed help for it.

16. Anne Hathaway
Back in 2014, Anne Hathaway was on vacation in Hawaii, swimming in the ocean when she got caught in a serious riptide.
