The lovely couple were married by Dec’s brother who is a priest.
After the ceremony, the newly married Declan Donnelly and Ali Astall stepped out of the church together to greet waiting fans and paparazzi, and Dec couldn’t hide his glee at finally being a married man.
Ali look stunning in a silk, floor length A-line dress that was designed by Phillipa Lepley.
As always, Ant was right by Dec’s side for support the whole day, and the pair wore matching Tom Baker blue suits for the wedding.
This isn’t the first time Ant and Dec have walked down the aisle together, as Dec was the best man at Ant’s wedding eight years ago, so it was finally time for Ant to return the favour for his best friend!
Apparently the pair celebrated Dec’s marriage by keeping the party going until 3am – we wouldn’t have expected anything less from these cheeky entertainers!
It was the wedding of the year in the television world, and the special event was attended by a ‘whose who’ of TV host royalty. From the This Morning co-hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby – who took time out of their holidays to attend – to Rochelle and Marvin Humes (who was the DJ at the reception!) and Strictly host Tess Daly and her hubby Vernon Kay.
Holly Willoughby’s best friend, and long time mate of Ant & Dec, a very pregnant Fearne Cotton was also in attendance, looking radiant in a printed shift dress.
Writing about the wedding on Twitter, the radio presenter said, “Watching someone you love get married is magic. Ali and Dec, your wedding yesterday was a dream.”
There were other big TV names who couldn’t attend Dec’s big day, such as their Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon Cowell, and legendary TV entertainer Bruce Forsyth, 87. Ant made sure to include them in the celebrations by streaming video messages from them for the happy couple during his best man’s speech.
Coldplay and Robbie Williams, are also said to have sent nice messages for the newlyweds.
A party goer told the Daily Mirror: “It was a brilliant wedding. Ant’s best man speech was very heartfelt, but hilarious at the same time.
“Prince Charles sent in a message. That came after a letter from the Pope. Dec was in shock and he got pretty choked up. It was the perfect day.”
The reception was rumoured to be decorated floor to ceiling in red and white roses, and Rochelle Humes uploaded this fun photo to her instagram account of her and hubby Marvin enjoying the personalised photo booth.
