Watch Homeless Man Reunite With The Dog He Had To Surrender

Last year, a Missouri man fell on hard times after he lost his job and his home. The hardest part of all was the fact he couldn’t take care of his beloved dog anymore. The brokenhearted man was forced to surrender, Reece a 3-year-old Boxer/Greyhound mix, to the Great Plains SPCA No Kill Shelter.

But eventually, things began to look up for the man, and so he checked the animal shelter’s website to see if Reece was still available for adoption. He was. As it turned out, two different families had adopted Reece over the previous months, but neither situation worked out. Once the man discovered that Reece still needed a home, he knew exactly what he wanted to do. He went back to the shelter to get his best friend back.

In a video that’s now going viral, Reece was tearfully reunited with his owner. The dog immediately recognizes his doting dad, running into his open arms as happy as can be. After the shelter posted the video on Facebook, it received thousands of likes and shares.

The shelter said in their Facebook post, “Keeping families together – just one of the reasons #whywerescue.” These two are clearly meant to be together, and this time, for good.
