Amber Heard granted restraining order against Johnny Depp, says he abused her

A longstanding pattern of physical abuse

Another attack
Amber Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against Johnny Depp after alleging a longstanding pattern of physical abuse, including a Saturday night incident in which she claims the enraged actor struck her with a cellphone, bruising her right eye.A filing in opposition of the order, from Depp's attorney Laura Wasser, says Heard — who is seeking $50,000 in monthly spousal support as a part of their pending divorce — "is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse."

According to the court documents filed Friday and obtained by Mashable (below), Heard says she was celebrating her birthday at the downtown Los Angeles condo she shares with Depp back in April when he arrived "inebriated and high," which led to a violent altercation. After a month away, he returned last Saturday and "began obsessing about something that was untrue," which Heard says led to another attack. Heard says Depp menaced and yelled at her, swung a magnum-sized wine bottle "like a baseball bat" and threw her cellphone at her with such force that it left a bruise near her right eye.

As neighbors and Depp's security team looked on, Depp rampaged through the couple's condo, yelling and destroying her property, according to the documents. Heard's friend Raquel Pennington, who lives in an adjoining condo, witnessed much of the incident and gave a statement corroborating Heard's version of events.

Heard also submitted three photos as evidence, showing the extent of her bruising:

TMZ first reported Friday that Heard visited Los Angeles Superior Court to file for a divorce earlier this week, seeking the restraining order. The request was partly granted — Depp was ordered to not have any contact with Heard, come within 100 yards of her, possess a firearm, and other standard protection-order language — but she did not sufficiently show a "need to protect pet dog," so that part of the request was denied. Also denied: her request that Depp be ordered to undergo anger management.

Heard states that Depp has been mentally and physically abusive toward her for the entirety of their relationship, which dates back to 2012. Depp, 52, and Heard, 30, were married in February 2015.

Emails and telephone messages Mashable left for Depp's publicist and lawyer, as well as Heard's, were not immediately returned on Friday. TMZ said Wasser, Depp's lawyer, appeared in court on his behalf.

Depp's lawyer says he has agreed to stay away as ordered, as he is currently out of town promoting Alice: Through the Looking Glass, which opens this weekend. Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
