3000 years ago this crater was formed by a volcanic eruption, like many other craters in the area. But what is so special about the Kerio crater that is the caldera is still intact, hued bright red making it visually stunning. The caldera is approximately 55 meters deep, 170 meters wide, and 270 meters across. At the bottom is a pool of blue water that lies at the about same level as the ground water table..
