This Girl Posted A $900 Winning Ticket On Facebook And Her ‘Friend’ Stole It

Over-sharing isn’t such a good idea

Don't share everything awesome that happens to you
It’s only natural that we want to share everything awesome that happens to us on social media, it’s pretty much part of our genetic make-up now. But sometimes over-sharing isn’t such a good idea and you need to take a few extra steps to make sure you don’t screw yourself over.

Like if you post your new driver’s license online, you may want to photoshop out your ID number. Same goes for your credit card (but we don’t know why you’d be taking pics of that) or let’s say, a winning lottery ticket.

This is Chantelle, she bet on a horse that had 101-1 odds against it and won. She wanted to share her exuberance with her adoring Facebook public.

But the problem was Chantelle’s photo revealed too much: the ticket’s bar code was in plain sight and one of her “friends” capitalized on it.It turns out all someone needed to do was take the code to a machine and claim the cash prize. And someone who saw her photo did just that before she could collect her winnings.

When Chantelle went to go and cash her winnings, she was obviously peeved. She posted this message on Facebook:“To the low life who is obviously my friend on Facebook and used my photo to claim our winnings. You’re a massive dick. You ruined my day.”Chantelle said in an interview with Triple M that the Police were able to track where the money was cashed, and that they’re sure they’ll find the guy who claimed the ticket. Let’s hope he posted a picture of him holding 900 bucks.
