Artist creates a Giant Octopus with Discarded Ballpoint Pens

You were about to write something down on a piece of paper and your ballpoint pen just stopped working, you throw it out and find another pen. Probably recognisable for us all but what happens with all those discarded pens are they really useless? Well it’s something that artist Ray Cicin must have asked himself.

So he decided to take up the challenge of creating an artwork of giant Octopus with discarded ballpoint pens. The piece is inspired by German naturalist Ernst Haeckel’s famous illustration of squid and octopi, and is part of Cicin’s ongoing Deep Blue series.
