7 Non-traditional Christmas Movies to Watch This Holiday ...

There are plenty of other options out there

Watching something else
You've seen Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph every single year since you were a young child. Since you're probably sick of them by now, you should think about watching something else this year. After all, there are plenty of other options out there, even if you don't realize it. Here are a few non-traditional Christmas movies that'll get you excited for the holidays:

1. Bad Santa

This is a movie about a man who dresses up as a mall Santa every year, just so he can get access to the building and rob them blind. He doesn't actually care about the holidays. He's simply an alcoholic who only cares about money and women. Of course, that changes one year, after he meets a little boy that makes him reevaluate his life. If you love comedies, you'll enjoy this silly film.

2. Gremlins

This is a movie about a boy who gets an animal for Christmas from his loving father. What kind of animal? The cutest kind there is! By the end of the film, you're going to fall in love with him. The best part? If you like the movie, there's a sequel you can watch that's even better than the original.

3. The Night before

This movie is still out in theaters, so you can watch it on the big screen. It's one of the most hysterical films that have been made in years. Plus, some of the biggest actors in the world are starring in it. If you want to watch a heartwarming holiday movie that will make you laugh until your sides hurt, then you can't miss this one.

4. The Nightmare before Christmas

Some people will watch this for Halloween. Some people will watch it for Christmas. Either way, it's an adorable film that will have you dancing and singing along. Tim Burton never disappoints, so you know that this movie is going to be pretty darn amazing.

5. A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas

Don't watch this film, unless you're okay with raunchy comedy. It has some pretty naughty scenes in it, but that doesn't mean it's not nice to watch around Christmas. After all, it takes place around this time of year. It even has Neil Patrick Harris in it, and any movie with him is bound to be perfect.

6. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Who doesn't love Robert Downy Jr? He's entertaining to watch at any time of year, but you might as well give yourself a treat around Christmas by watching him. This film is about "a murder mystery brings together a private eye, a struggling actress, and a thief masquerading as an actor." It has an interesting plot that's going to keep you glued to your seat.

7. Die Hard

This is an action movie that takes place around Christmas time. It might not be a holiday classic, but it is a classic. That's why you should watch it at some point. After you do, you'll start to understand a whole bunch of movie references you've been hearing your whole life.

You don't have to watch classic Christmas movies in order to get into the holiday spirit. There are plenty of other films that'll get the job done without boring you to tears.
