But if there’s one person who will be punished when the machines inevitably rise up, it’ll be this guy who created a robot and immediately turned him into an alcoholic. Creatively called Robot Drinky, this little machine is designed to take shots and even responds just like a human would after a few too many. His cheeks get rosy, and he’ll even offer to clink glasses with his drinking partner every now and then.
The robot was created by South Korean inventor Eunchan Park. He says that he created the little guy after feeling alone on Christmas Day in 2012 because he had no girlfriend at the time.
“This is why I made this robot,” he writes. “I put an extra glass in front of me and poured Soju into it. And then, I cheered by myself with the glass of Soju, as though there was someone in front of me.” Then one thing led to another and he made Robot Drinky.
He claims that, at least for him, drinking with a partner, even if they happen to be robotic, totally changes the taste of alcohol. All strangeness aside though, this guy seems like a pretty adorable drinking partner. And he doesn’t even consume any of the precious liquor, so more for us humans.
