Attendees partake in the ceremonial divot stomp

Don chic summer outfits
More than 8,000 celebrities, champagne lovers, and otherwise stylish people turned out to Liberty State Park in Jersey City for the ninth-annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic Saturday afternoon.

Michael B. Jordan, Rose Byrne, Olivia Palermo, and Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss were among those who sipped bubbly while watching team Veuve Clicquot take on team Black Watch on horseback. Guests were encouraged to don chic summer outfits and bold hats — and most attendees clearly got the memo.

VIP guests were served glasses of Veuve Clicquot upon arrival. Entrance to the VIP Rosé Garden cost a whopping $400 a person, though more affordable general admission tickets could be had for $75 each.

Jaimie Alexander walked the green carpet, which was plastered with bottles of champagne.

Model Jourdan Dunn was stunning in white. She later threw out the ceremonial first ball to begin the match.

Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale were spotted sipping rosé in the VIP area.

Not far away were Nicky Hilton Rothschild, Bijou Phillips, and Danny Masterson.

The citrusy Veuve Clicquot Rich was the drink of choice for many.

DJs Hannah Bronfman and Brendan Fallis provided the tunes.

Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss also made an appearance.

Though the event is ostensibly about the polo match, guests' chic style choices often took center stage. Event organizers encouraged gentlemen to wear linen summer suits, while ladies were told to wear "sun dresses and their most daring of hats."

Olivia Palermo, pictured here with husband Johannes Huebl, dressed the part.

Riley Keough, Jourdan Dunn, Michael B. Jordan, Rose Byrne, and Elizabeth Olsen clearly got the memo.

Broadway star Andrew Rannells sang the national anthem in a dapper seersucker suit.

Halfway through the match, attendees were invited onto the field to take place in the ceremonial divot stomping.

Danny Masterson and Bijou Phillips joined in on the fun, taking a selfie with friends.

Nacho Figueras ultimately led team Black Watch to a victory, with the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan skyline serving as a dramatic backdrop.

Both teams got to pose with the trophy ...

... before popping some champagne in celebration.

But even those who didn't snag VIP tickets had some fun at the sunny event. A line of popular food trucks were on hand to feed the masses.

While some lounged on blankets under Veuve Clicquot-branded umbrellas, others played lawn games like life-sized Jenga and cornhole.

And plenty of fun was had by all.
