Many of us have wondered about the existence of extraterrestrial life. And even if they do exist, how would they be like? How does their life differ than ours?

Based on this, there have been many illustrations of what alien life could be like. Films such as Star Wars and Avatar have given us a good idea of what they might possibly be like, if they even exist.

But perhaps we do not need to look that far to see alien-like places in the universe. Maybe we even have them right here, on planet Earth.

1.Mount Roraima, Brazil

This is one of the most unique mountains on the planet. Rather than having a wide base and a narrow peak like most mountains do, Mount Roraima is completely flat, resembling a plateau. What is also interesting about this mountain is that it has a lot of wild life and vegetation, something unprecedented for these kinds of geographical locations.

2.Fly Geyser, United States

Back in 1916, a well was dug somewhere in the ground in Nevada, the United States. The well had been funtional for over 45 years when suddenly, hot water started erupting from it. The salts dissolved from the ground started to accumulate as a result of this gushing hot water and over time, it developed into mounds of colorful mineral salts, turning it into a natural water fountain that shoots water up to five feet high.

3.The Bermuda Triangle, Atlantic Ocean

The Bermuda Triangle might perhaps be the most mysterious place on earth purely because we just do not know what is going on there. It is a triangular shaped area in the Atlantic Ocean that has boasted a lot of unsolved cases such as disappearance of ships, aircraft and virtually anything that is known to find their way into the region.

4.Moeraki Boulders, New Zealand

In Koekohe Beach, located on South Island in New Zealand, there are some strange boulders spread all over the place and boy are they big. These boulders can have a circumference of up to 12 feet and are also filled with a wide range of minerals. These boulders occur when minerals build up on a fossil that happens to be on the shore of the beach. These minerals accumulate over time, forming the strange, yet beautiful, phenomenon we can see on Koekohe Beach.

5.Caño Cristales, Colombia

The Caño Cristales is considered by many as the most beautiful river in the whole world. It also comes as no surprise once you see it. During the period between September and November, various shades of color can be seen in the river such as yellow, blue, red, green and pink. These colors are a result of the various plants that grow inside the river itself, making the site one of the most beautiful works of nature.

6.Aokighara, Japan

Aokighara is a very intriguing forest located in the foothills of Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan. It stretches over 3,500 hectares and is surrounded by countless mysteries. Some people think there is a lot of magic associated with the forest, with several claims of ghost sightings. It is also a place where people tend to commit suicide a lot. There have been over 500 of such cases reported.

7.Christ Of The Abyss At San Fruttuoso, Italy Near Portofino

This is perhaps one of the most mindblowing sights in the underwater world. In San Fruttuoso bay, Italy, there is a bronze statue of Jesus Christ with his hands up at the bed of the bay. The statue is a symbol of peace and stand 2.5 meters high. The Christ of the Abyss was sculpted by Guido Galletti and was put on the bed of the water body on August 22, 1950.


8.The Stone Forest – Shilin Stone Forest, China

If you were intrigued by the Aokighara forest, wait till you see this Stone forest in the Yunnan Province of China. This forest is not only well known for the tall trees it has, but for the tall rocks of limestone that look like skyscrapers. This mixture of green and grey makes this 96,000 acre forest a sight to behold.

9.Dragon’s Blood Tree, Socotra

The Dracaena Cinnabari, or the dragon blood tree, is a weird looking tree located in Socotra, an island and a small archipelago of four islands located in the Indian Ocean. The dragon blood tree looks like a giant mushroom from Pandora. But it does not just have a weird look, it can be quite useful as well. The people of Socotra use this plant as medicine to treat various diseases. They also use the tree in other aspects such as dying fabric, making incense, and staining wood.

10.Desert Rose, Socotra

The Desert Rose is quite a strange looking plant, not exactly as beautiful as the rose used during Valentine’s day. This is mainly due to the fact that the plant has gone through an evolutionary process to be able to survive on the island. It has developed a massive stem to be able to store as much water as possible for times when water is not easily available.
