A Unique and Elegant Way To Accessorize

Succulent obsession to a whole new level

Living Jewelry
Everyone seems to be obsessed with succulents these days. In the past year, that particular type of plant has become extremely popular. Everywhere you go there’s a couple of small, cute, minimalistic succulent plants. They’re in every hipstery coffee shop, in every home decor store, in all the restaurants. You can’t log onto Instagram without seeing a photo of someone’s cool minimalistic coffee mug next to a succulent plant. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I, myself, have recently purchased a small succulent. I named it Tricksie, it lives on my kitchen windowsill. However, Susan McLeary has taken the succulent obsession to a whole new level.

Susan made succulents into jewelry. Yes, living jewelry, that grows while you wear it. Each piece of jewelry is handmade and each plant is hand picked either from Susan’s family greenhouse or from a few local small businesses. Susan’s living jewelry is obviously quite delicate, so it’s not something you would wear every day. It’s a great choice for weddings and special events. If you’re careful though, you can enjoy this jewelry for a few weeks before it grows too big for its base and will have to be replanted. You get instructions on how to do this, with every piece of jewelry you buy. Afterwards, you can still continue wearing the jewelry base without the succulents.

Now let’s take a look at these lovely pieces of living jewelry. If you like them, you can buy them on Susan’s Etsy.
