Awkward, but Undeniably Beautiful Foamy Sculptures
Perhaps weird, but still cool and wonderful
Born in Manilla, Philippines and educated at Arizona State University, Dan Lam now lives in Dallas, Texas. The artist’s specialty are these weird looking blobs of blotched material made from a combination of polyurethane resin, acrylic and wood and painted in fluorescent colors. Dan Lam makes the foamy creatures as free-standing dripping sculptures or as wall mounted shapeless splashed dots. This is not the first time the artist plays with amorphic sculptures, but it is the first time they have taken the kaleidoscopic spiky form that provokes the desire to be touched and inspected by hands. Perhaps weird, but still cool and wonderful, and proving that beauty does exist in all shapes and forms.
